it was really sweet

little bits of tulle; soft and vintagey treasures...

today we share our photos of the things we made and found for ele's sweet tweet swap. i loved the theme, of course - all things bird and spring related. thank you for hosting this, ele:)

the first handmade project for ele, who ended up being my partner, was this nest in a tarnished old ladle. i really love how this turned out - and i want to thank the very creative barbara, over at treasures of the heart, for the inspiration for this! she has a wonderful blog, so full of pretty pictures and inspiration. thank you, barbara:)

a simple little bird nest made of yarn and shreds of burlap, nestled in a tiny silver favor basket.

i loved this soft pink doily. i layered it in an old raspberry crate (seen in one of the next few photos) and placed the gifts inside for mailing. the velvet bookmark with the charms was one of my favorite gifts for ele! this was the second time i created one of these for a swap...please see andrea's beautiful post for the inspiration for these. for those of you who have never visited her blog - prepare to set aside hours to browse...one of the most consistently beautiful and creative and "real" blogs on the web, in my humble opinion.

since ele lives on a farm, i was so thrilled to find this handmade charm for her!

the other side of the charm...and magnets made from scrabble tiles.

a chipboard bird that i covered and lightly distressed

and one of the old raspberry crates that i used as a container. i made an archival copy of this perfect old flashcard - another favorite from my stash.

i happened across this softly colored bookmark at barnes and noble, and had to add it to the collection:)

this is a swap package that was exceptionally fun to assemble...i truly made it a gift i would have loved to receive myself! i always try to do swaps with that "rule" in mind...

Oh my gosh, what a lucky lady Ele is! Every bit of it is beautiful, but I agree -- my favorite is the bookmark you so sweetly personalized for her!

I've now opened up a gift shop blog where i will list some of my things to sell, including my bird nests.
