thrill of the hunt

this is my first vintage swap with a partner who loves all things bright and kitschy.  she loves bright yellow, teal, and bright green...retro kids toys...almost anything from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.  owls.  lawn gnomes.  deer.  granny squares.  sewing.  crocheting.

i wonder if i'm fickle?  since hunting down these vintagey things for my partner, i've developed a fondness for some of this, too.  this style is just so fun!  i haven't mailed off my package yet, but i just had to share a few photos with you...most of these are for my swap partner - but a few things might find their way into my home;)

this little yellow potholder is much, much brighter in real life

this wonderful aqua pom pom pillow made me giddy!  i don't know if it's *really* vintage or not, but i like that it's nice and clean;)

really cute graphics in this little book

i never knew what a granny square was until now:)  and they're not always square. hee!

vintage wallpaper piece

kitsch!!!

i certainly hope that i'm not totally wrong about this...but this fabric just screamed "bright kitschy swap" to me!  i don't know anything about sewing or fabrics...i hope this is a good find?!?

this bright yellow haeger planter is perfectly fabulous!  i love!

a fun 60s sewing pattern

and two pieces of "blue heaven" dinnerware - what an awesome find!!!

I think the items you selected are adorable and you can tell you put a lot of thought and "heart" into your selections. I am certain she will treasure them. Thank you for sharing....Nancat

i also like obnoxious colors! i particularly like orange.
i have book after book from these colorful decades. i'll admit to being fickle. ;)

Fun!!! I go back and forth too as I'm attracted to the bright colors, but love the calm and textures of neutrals.
